The Chamber advances and stimulates interest and participation in the business and professional community to facilitate exchange of information, broaden opportunities and promote growth.

History

On Dec. 13, 1994, the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Maui was incorporated. Simoultaneously, a Maui Chapter of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, which was established in 1954, co-existed.

In 2001, Richard Caldito Sr. and Rafael Acoba organized the two organizations, which had similar missions, to unify under Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce.

Past presidents of the Chamber include Benjamin Acob, Melen Agcolicol, Virgilio Agcolicol, Danny Agsalog, Elizabeth Ayson, Marietta Carino, Nick Casumping, Jr., John Wayne Enriques, Cielo Molina, Audie Pascual, Pablo Piano, Cecile Prios, Rey Prado, Tony Ramil, Sharon Z. Banaag, Kit Z. Furukawa , Jorge Tirona and Chris Rabang.


Recognizing the need to separate the Chamber's charitable functions, the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation was incorporated on Feb. 3, 2011. On May 18, 2011, the IRS granted the Foundation its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

The Foundation's purposes are to promote and perpetuate Filipino culture and its customs, promote education and provide scholarships, and engage in charitable activities.
